Weekend Volunteer
PrerequisitesBefore volunteering at Camp John Marc each volunteer must submit a volunteer application and background check consent form. Additionally, each volunteer must participate in a phone interview with Camp John Marc staff. Job DescriptionWeekend camps at Camp John Marc traditionally begin Friday evening around 5 pm and end Sunday at lunch time. Volunteers are expected to commit to the entire weekend and must provide their own transportation to and from camp. During the weekend each volunteer is assigned an activity area (fishing, cooking, sports and games, nature discovery, arts and crafts) and are responsible for the implementation of that activity area. Additionally, volunteers are expected to assist with leading evening activities such as campfires, carnivals, and camp dances. All volunteers are provided with support and supervision during the weekend. Camp John Marc volunteers must adhere to all camp policies and the Camp John Marc Code of Ethics. ![]() AccommodationsDuring the weekend CJM volunteers sleep in a cabin with other volunteers. Weekend volunteers do not share cabins with campers, each group coming in provides volunteer counselors. Each cabin has AC and Heat and a bathroom within the cabin. The accommodations are comfortable yet Camp like! Weekend volunteers play a critical role in providing children and their families with a positive camping experience in a natural outdoor setting.
