There are lots of places to go and lots of things to see at Camp.
Here is a brief tour of the facility.
Administration/Children’s Building/Library
Containing the camp site’s administrative offices, the Children’s Building is the first building you see at Camp. A library, comfortable
waiting and reception area and program offices introduce visitors to
the facility.
Medical Building (Bandaid Box, Med Hut, Quack Shack)
Housing the doctors and nurses, and any other medical staff for the
campers, the Medical Building is the heart of Camp. Dialysis, infusion,
catheterizing, and almost any other procedure is done here.
Dining Hall
This is a spacious eating area for 200+ and serves great camp food.
Oak tables for 10 and cowhide chairs begin the Texas motif. On the
east side is a great meeting place, the Saddle Room, with a western
décor with hardwood floors, a stone fireplace and the Wall of
Honor (honoring our major donors).
Challenge Course
A towering mass of logs provides climbing challenges for campers to
conquer. Two climbing walls, high elements and a zip line provide hours
of challenge, fun and ultimately a ‘feel good’ spirit for
campers.
Fishing Pier & Lake
One of the coolest places at Camp, and not just when catching fish.
The pier always has a great breeze and allows a good view for the campers
searching for "Netter" the giant catfish.
Boating
The boat dock at Camp is complete with canoes, kayaks, and hand-paddle
boats. Boaters enjoy the beautiful scenery and energetic splashing
fun that Crow Lake provides on hot summer days.
Swimming Pool with Beach Entry
A beautiful outdoor swimming pool includes diving boards, a basketball
goal, swim lanes, and a waterfall/creek that feeds into the pool. Dressing
areas for males and females with accessible toilets and showers are
also available.
Arts & Crafts Building & Teaching Kitchen
This is the creative center of Camp. Pottery, painting, cooking, coloring
and so much more provide campers tangible memories of camp.
Horse Riding Arena
The horse arena is large enough for lots of campers to enjoy riding
courses and instructional time for beginning riders. Also, the adaptive
riding ramp and mounting blocks have made this a favorite activity
at Camp.
Morning Star Chapel
A traditional starting place for each group, Morning Star Chapel provides
an introduction to Camp and to the values Camp provides. The
beautiful, outdoor stone chapel creates a quiet, yet awestruck feeling.
A gentle creek flows through the chapel to ease the spirit and quiet
the soul.
Recreation Barn
Housing a full size basketball court and much more, this building
serves many functions from sports and games, to dances, evening activities,
and break time play.
Athletic Fields & Volleyball Court
Located just outside the Rec Barn, there is plenty of space to play
softball, volleyball (on a sand court), soccer, water games and lots
of other fun running sports. There’s also room to land the Care
Flight helicopter here.
Archery Range
Located in a highly shaded area, archery is a camp favorite. Shooting
balloons, targets or even fruit, this location has the best breeze
and shade at Camp.
Wilderness Area
On 170 acres, there’s lots of room at Camp for all sorts of
nature activities like fossil making, scavenger hunts, learning to
use compasses, etc.
Campout Sites
There are several campout sites throughout camp, including the Covered
Wagons, the Treehouses, and the Star Gazing Platform.
Staff/Family Lodges
These 4 great duplex lodges provide living space for camp staff during
the summer months and housing for family camps and family Getaway weekends.
20 Camp Cabins
These cabins (each with a cool name) are the next best thing to sleeping
at home. The cabins include air conditioning/heating, accessible toilets,
2 sinks, 2 showers, 10 twin size beds, and ceiling fans.
